It was a not-too-spooky afternoon for the kids of the Palm Beach Junior Assembly, which opened its 67th season with a Halloween-themed dance.

Groovin’ in The Graveyard took place Oct. 8 at The Colony, a new venue for the organization.

The event included etiquette instruction, refreshments and dancing to the Palm Beach Orchestra.

Last year’s merger of the Junior Assembly with the Junior League of the Palm Beaches’ cotillion created a membership spanning from kindergarten through ninth grade, and a geographical area from Vero Beach to Fort Lauderdale.

Monnie Gilder is chairwoman of the Junior Assembly.

The next dance will be the Turkey Trot on Nov. 12 at the Beach Club.

Also scheduled for the 2014-15 season are the Snowflake Ball, Dec. 10 at The Mar-a-Lago Club; Country Hoedown, Jan. 14 at the Beach Club; Cupid’s Ball, Feb. 11 at The Colony; and Red Carpet Ball, April 8 at The Mar-a-Lago Club.

Bring your dancing shoes and white gloves.
