Excerpt from “Worth Tasting”… “Fun Fact” During the 20’s and 30’s, Worth Avenue traffic centered on the Ladies that Lunched. The Everglades Club hosted weekly luncheon fashion shows which featured the latest in trends from Paris and New York. The ladies, who attended the weekly lunch, would spend the remainder of the afternoon shopping for the runway goods. In most cases, house accounts were established so that the stores could deliver the purchased goods to the house and the bills to the estate’s private accountant before the ladies would even return from lunch.
